The Official Count: 24 Needles

The Steam store page for the full game states that the five production stages and all 24 needles are playable in Early Access. That is the developer's own number, and it is the one to trust. The full game launches in Early Access on November 6, 2026.

Gameplay footage confirms it from inside the game. The tech tree entry for the Prospecting Needle Cabinet says it has a slot for each of the 24 kinds of needle. When a player opens the cabinet, the slots show different types such as a sewing needle and a safety pin.

How Many Needles Are in the Demo?

The demo includes the cabinet and the needle hunt, but not the whole collection. Players who finish the demo report finding only a few needles, and the reported numbers differ depending on pile size and build. Because of that, there is no single confirmed demo count to quote.

Why Some Clips Say One Needle

The game went viral before its Steam page existed. Early coverage from Dexerto described a prototype with one needle hidden among 5,000,000 pieces of hay, removed one strand at a time. The creator hinted at tools to speed up the search.

The Steam game grew far beyond that idea. It now has machines, a 300+ upgrade tech tree, hay products and a full set of 24 needles. If you see one needle in an old clip, it is the prototype, not the current game.

The Needle Cabinet and Needle Bonuses

You need the Needle Cabinet before you can store needles, so buy it early from the tech tree and place it from the build menu. Opening it shows every needle slot and which ones you have filled. Each needle goes into its own matching slot.

Placing a needle gives a small permanent buff. In one playthrough the first sewing needle made handles lift 8% more straw. A demo review described the buffs as weak but satisfying, more like a badge of progress than a power spike.

How to Find Needles Faster

The metal detector is your main early tool. It beeps when a needle is in range, starting at about 7 meters with upgrades for more. If nothing beeps around the edge, the needles are deeper, so lower the pile with machines and sweep again.

Later, scanners on the belt flag needles automatically as hay passes. Put them before the sell stand so no needle is ever sold. Speedrunners show how fast a direct route can be: one Needle% run on the normal stack finished in 5 minutes 6 seconds.

What Kinds of Needles Are There?

Needles and Delivery Contracts

Some delivery contracts ask you to find needles rather than make products. In one playthrough an early contract paid for finding six needles. That gives you money and progress at the same time.

Take these contracts when your detector or scanners are ready. They reward the needle hunt you are already doing.

Does Pile Size Change the Needle Count?

Pile size changes how much hay you have to search, and the medium pile already holds millions of strands. A bigger pile means the needles are spread through more hay. The official count of 24 refers to the needle kinds in the full game.

If you want to find needles faster, a smaller pile is quicker to search. The recommended way to play is still the medium pile.

What Happens When You Find All 24?

The developer keeps this a secret. The Steam page simply says nobody has said what happens when you finish, and asks what happens when you collect all the needles, answering only "Who knows?". Treat any claimed ending you read online as unconfirmed until the full game is out.
