Find The Needle PC Requirements: Can Your PC Run It?

To run Find The Needle you need at least Windows 10 64-bit, a 4-core, 8-thread CPU such as an Intel i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB of RAM, and a dedicated GPU with Vulkan 1.3 and 4 GB of VRAM, such as a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570.

Quick Answer

To run Find The Needle you need at least Windows 10 64-bit, a 4-core, 8-thread CPU such as an Intel i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB of RAM, and a dedicated GPU with Vulkan 1.3 and 4 GB of VRAM, such as a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570. Steam lists 3 GB of storage and DirectX 12.

The recommended setup is Windows 11, a 6-core CPU, 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 Super or RTX 2060 with 6 GB of VRAM. Integrated graphics are not supported. Full details are below.

Minimum System Requirements

These are the official minimum specs from the Find The Needle Steam page. Below this level the game may not start or may crash.

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit.
  • Processor: 4 cores / 8 threads, Intel i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600.
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM.
  • Graphics: dedicated GPU with Vulkan 1.3 support and 4 GB VRAM, GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570.
  • DirectX: version 12.
  • Storage: 3 GB available space.

Integrated Graphics Are Not Supported

The official page states that integrated graphics are not supported and may crash. That includes the built-in graphics on many laptops and office PCs. You need a dedicated graphics card.

On a laptop with two GPUs, set the game to use the high-performance GPU. Our demo crash guide explains how this fixes many crashes.

Why the CPU Matters So Much

Find The Needle simulates millions of physical strands of hay. The recommended specs note that very large factories are CPU heavy and that a faster CPU keeps the frame rate up late in the game. The early game is light, but the late game is not.

Players have seen this in practice. One demo player found that physics and collisions capped their factory at about 20 robotic arms. A stronger CPU lets you run a bigger factory smoothly.

Storage Size

Steam now lists 3 GB of available space for both minimum and recommended. Some older articles still show 2 GB from an earlier version of the page. Plan for at least 3 GB, plus room for updates.

The game is small compared with most modern releases. Installing on an SSD is not listed as required, but it helps loading times.

Can a Laptop Run Find The Needle?

A gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU that meets the minimum can run it. Laptops with only integrated graphics are not supported and may crash. Check that your laptop has a GPU at least at the level of a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570 with 4 GB of VRAM.

On laptops with two GPUs, make sure the game runs on the dedicated one. Keep the laptop plugged in for full performance.

Planning for the Late Game

The early game is light on hardware, but a late-game factory is not. Belts, arms, drones and processing machines all add physics work for the CPU. That is why the recommended spec asks for 6 or more cores.

If your PC is near minimum, build efficient layouts with fewer, upgraded machines. Our layout guide shows how.

Vulkan 1.3 and DirectX 12

The minimum spec asks for a GPU that supports Vulkan 1.3, plus DirectX 12. Most dedicated cards from the GTX 1050 Ti and RX 570 generation onward meet that with current drivers. Updating your GPU driver is often enough to get support.

If the game will not start at all, an old driver is one of the first things to check. Our crash guide lists the other common causes.

How to Check Your PC

On Windows you can see your CPU and RAM in Settings under System, About. Your graphics card is listed in Task Manager under the Performance tab. Compare them with the minimum and recommended lists above.

The simplest test is to install the free demo. If it runs well into the late game, your PC is ready for Early Access.

Platforms: Windows Only

Find The Needle runs only on Windows through Steam. There is no Mac or Linux version, and no console or mobile release. See our Mac guide for details.

The best way to test your PC is the free demo. If it runs well, the Early Access release on November 6, 2026 should too.
